Mesothelioma is a malignant form of cancer which is developed due to previous exposure to asbestos. The malignant cancer cells develop in protective covering of organs known as mesothelium. The most common sites attacked by these cells are lungs, gastro-intestinal tract and heart.

People who are working at the jobs related to asbestos are at the risk of developing mesothelioma. It is a misconception that mesothelioma is related to smoking. Let`s have a look on the important signs and symptoms of this type of cancer. The earliest symptom of the disease is shortness of the breath which is also known as dyspnoea. The reason for difficult breathing is the fluid accumulated between the lungs and the chest wall. The second common symptom is pain in the region of the chest and abdomen. Other general symptoms can be weight loss and weakness.
